Connect with your inner flower muse, meet fellow flower friends, and be inspired by nature. We will gather for a creative afternoon at Hilltop Community Farm to work with seasonal flowers and spend time fostering your creativity for bouquet making. Using the freshest, most coveted blooms of the season, hone both your harvest and design techniques as well as tips for extending vase life, making corsages and boutonnieres. Take home a billowy, dreamy, fresh-from-the-garden bouquet to adorn your table. In July, it’s all about peak season blooms where wildflowers, fruits and cultivated cuts merge for a floral feast.

This is a great opportunity for both aspiring and seasoned florists looking to hone skills, share ideas,  tour a working flower farm, and meet with fellow flower farmers and florists.

To bring:
A favorite vase to fill with your flower ideas and play with design
A willingness to share and be open to the possibilities
Favorite flower snips and scissors if you have them
A dish to pass if you wish to stay for the potluck feast

Spots are filling quickly, so reserve yours before the class is full.

Join us for Summer’s last hurrah, the mad explosion of blooms before the frost hits!  We’ll have access to gorgeous kales and other hardy blooms in the field and an abundance of dahlias and other treasures in the high tunnel.  We’ll explore various ways of diversifying bouquets with an abundance of textures and we’ll also talk about drying blooms and using succulents to extend the season of floral design beyond Wisconsin’s growing limitations.  Also on the agenda:  exploring compotes and other vessels beyond the standard vertical vase, so bring along a medium size vessel to flex your spatial design skills.

This is a great opportunity for both aspiring and seasoned florists looking to hone skills, share ideas,  tour a working flower farm, and meet with fellow flower farmers and florists.

To bring:
A vessel to design into – preferably a compote or footed bowl
A willingness to share and be open to the possibilities
Favorite flower snips and scissors if you have them
A dish to pass if you wish to stay for the potluck feast
